Sky Diners Gossips

Chapter 9: When was the last time you ate corn?

I mean corn as the fresh vegetable/fruit, whatever you categorise it under and not the Chacos or Doritos Corn Chips.

In fact corn is one of my favourite snacks, being healthier and also tasty. It contains high traces of Vitamin B, minerals and also is "good for your butt-hole". You will spend less time in the toilet damaging your butt-hole.

You can get them anywhere I suppose, from raw ones to cooked ones.

So are you thinking of what snack to eat, how long has it been since you ate this wonderful treat? So go now and grab yourself some corn!

Chapter 8: Chilli did not live up to its name

Hello again diners!

Today I just went to KFC to try out the Cheezy Chikaroni ($2.50 with drink) and the new Fiery Crunch Chicken.

We ordered a Mini Bucket and the Cheezy Chikaroni, and we actually is just me and my bro lol.
The Fiery Crunch is quite nice with a tangy taste of lime and herbs but I was disappointed when it wasn't spicy. They said it was very spicy so as a spicy fanatic, of course I was excited. But I guess they will need to put more chilli to satiate my tongue.

However, the best around mashed potato and Cheezy Wedges put me back in the mood. I just love these. Anyone who knows how to make them, please let me know!

The Chicken Chikaroni was just alright, just macaroni with cheddar cheese.

Chapter 7: The Day Charcoal Became Edible

Diners!

I happened to come across something which was rather interesting, An EDIBLE CHARCOAL!

Or rather it's just a black bread. They call it Bamboo Charcoal Bread.
Said it's infused with moso bamboo and sunflower seeds, which can prevent cancer.
No idea how true it is and also mention that it originated from Japan and Korea.

As for the taste, do not worry, taste just like normal bread, but maybe a little fragrant and soft. Or maybe the black colour is affecting my senses. Anyway, it's $2 per packet, rather expensive and you can get them at LoF Bakery just opposite Hua Ho Serusop.

Cheers!

Chapter 6: Do you know the other meaning of blue?

Finally, an update! You must have been very hungry!

Today, I happen to eat at TT Blues Cafe, just at the end of the Yong Siong Hai building in Gadong. To be exact, the building where the communist shop (Unitek) is located.

They are having a 50% OFF on all items on the menu for sometime now so definitely if you're broke you can head over here. They have a variety of choices, but a lot of the western dishes when I ordered, it was out of stock!

So i just tried their Asian dishes - Buttermilk Dry Chicken, Dry Pepper Prawns and Sweet and Sour Fish. These were $8 each but after 50%, its $4. The taste is just alright, well I mean, have you eaten these dishes where they taste much different?

The dishes are really worth it due to the prices, they taste the same at other places anyways but the prawns are just too small, so mayb you would want to avoid their prawns though last time when I ate here, it was ok.

Another I would recommend would probably be their Pearl Milk Tea. After the promotion, its $1.50, cheap? So they must have cut the portion, yeah? In fact no, its nice in portion and also the taste is good, almost like the one in Cheezbox.

So why not try and chill out here!

Chapter 5: American Milk Chilli

Cheetos' Cheddar Jalapeno, costing at an exaggerating price of $4.30 per pack, I will still buy it when my wallet gets heavier. Nothing much really to say, thick voluptuous cheddar cheese, sprinkled with appealing jalapeno on beautiful crunchy curls. Will just work out after finishing the pack myself. Try it!

Chapter 4: 'Flat Chick', hot diva of Indonesia

Any horny Diners out there with a different intepretation?

Today's dish will be Ayam Penyet, loosely translated as flat chicken, a famous local dish which you can almost get it anywhere in Brunei but today I will be introducing one that I like the most. Maybe you've tried, but you can still grab it again.

This one is from Pondok Sari Wangi, located inside Food Zone in Gadong Properties. This version is only available at this branch and not at other of their branches, don't ask me why.

Costs $4, what's so special about this Ayam Penyet. Let's start with the chicken first. The flat chicken is made so with the aim of allowing the marination to seep into every strand of the flesh and loosen the bones so you won't need to dirty your hands to eat it. They have done this very well.

The chicken although fried, is not hard at all in its texture. Instead, nice beautiful texture, just like that of grilled but retaining tantalising flavours and taste within the skin and flesh, just so tasty. There must be a secret to it. Combined with their own sambal sauce, just wonderful.

The sambal sauce has an authentic taste to it, and less oil or maybe virtually no oil. However, the spiciness level is for those with a high willpower. Its quite an accomplishment to be able to finish the sambal, which I did (self-promoting), anyone up to the challenge?

So go and burn your tongues!

Chapter 3: The Fire of Thailand

Yet another hungry day? Lucky you because today, I will introduce you another one of my favourite restaurants. Do not be fooled by its looks for you will be thankful you came to savour their wonderful dishes.

This little low-profile kitchen which serves Thai food goes by the name Nursyuhaidah Restaurant and Catering. It is located at the same block as Excapade Sushi Serusop branch. Not only the food is great but also it is very economical, just unbelievable.

There are a variety of dishes here but I will be recommending 4 dishes which I ordered today, which will surely satisfy your taste buds. And each dish cost $5 and rice, 50 cents per plate.

The first is the Chicken Cashew Nut. Boneless chicken and crunchy cashew nuts, stir fried with onion, dried chillies, a variety of herbs and spices which i couldn't figure out and is one of my nephew's favourites. You will never find the same aroma and taste elsewhere, trust me.

The next on the line is the Curry Chicken, the authentic Thai thick creamy red curry blended with herbs and spices. Taste just like the red curry in other Thai restaurants but the curry is a little thicker in consistency and spiciness is just ok.

The Pandan Chicken, ohh, luscious minced and marinated chicken wrapped in pandan leaves and fried to perfection. Dip it in the sweet chilli sauce, the combination is very appetising. The fragrance and sweetness is just so pleasant. A lot better than the ones I ate in other Thai restos.

Coming up next is the Fried Seafood Basilles. Squids and prawns, stir fried with chopped long beans, onions, chillies and basil leaves and their special sauce, just mesmerising. The taste is really unique and fragrant, you will never taste it elsewhere. The food must have been cooked over very high heat, in order to seal so much flavours in the dishes. However, don't mistaken the long beans with the chillies.

All these dishes were served to me within 5 minutes upon order and the restaurant was half-filled at that time. A testament to the high heat that was used to cook the dishes.

Drooling? So go and have a feast, there's more than just girls in Thailand!
