Finally, the first post!
Today, I will be introducing one of my favourite restaurants, Seri JS Restaurant or also known as Singapore Big Prawn House. This restaurant used to be located behind Supa Save Gadong when it moved last year to its new place at Jangsak, just opposite Jackhan's furniture store, Spg 1116.
They have wide varieties of food ranging from prawn noodles, Chinese rice dishes, laksa, fishballs to ice desserts. My recommendation; you must try their fishballs, prawn dishes and ice desserts.
For my visit here today with my family, i have ordered "Big Prawn Noodles", "Yong Taufu" and the "Sea Coconut de Tadpole".
Big Prawn Noodles; succulent prawns - fried - served with noodles and their secret recipe prawn soup, eaten with their special sambal sauce... The burst of flavours and fragrance, ooh.. what more can I say?
Think that's enough, Not yet!
Yong Taufu; is my favourite one here. Costs $3 per bowl with 6 items, where you pick youself, additional items cost 50cents each. Items range from ladyfingers, chilli, tofu, beancurd and fishballs. All these items have their homemade fish paste in it. Be sure to take the fishballs, there's 2 kinds, do pick the homemade one, you will love it. You can choose to have them in different kinds of soups; prawn, clear, curry, etc.
The prawn and clear soup is nice. The taste of authentic fish with great bouncing texture combined with the special sambal sauce will make you crave for more.
Makes you feel like a bouncing ball...whatever that means. For those who are spicy fanatic (like me), you will love the sambal sauce, authentic, spicy, sour, bursting and exploding your taste buds.
Ice desserts ($3 each) - shaved ice, millions (exaggeration) kinds of toppings, sweet, cooling ... you will need it after savouring the sambal sauce, you'll know what I mean.
One of the best desserts I guess is the "
Sea Coconut de Tadpole". Don't worry, these are not real tadpoles, just bouncy jellies which you will never find anywhere
else in Brunei served together with sea coconut with honey and some chrysanthemum syrup on top of shaved ice... result, cooling.. have fun biting those tadpoles.
Although the place may not have your classy elegant ambience or your highly trained waitresses offering 5-star services, the food is worth the try. Also, the first step into the shop, and you will be overdosed by the prawn gas(just the odour of prawn cooking).
So go and battle with the prawns!
